I was raised in the midwest, the youngest child of a missionary pastor. Our family was poor in dollars, but rich in music, laughter and love.
After deciding in 7th grade that I wanted to be a band director, I attended Cedarville University in Ohio and majored in music education. I met Bob Young, who is now my husband and is an electrical engineer with a company in downtown St. Paul. We have three grown children, two sons-in-law, and three wonderful grandchildren named James, Justin and Abbigale.
I enjoy reading fiction and mysteries, playing the piano at church, antique dish shopping and tea parties. I've written two musical productions which we have performed here in our school, and I love speaking at church Christmas Teas.
At CLBS I teach all grades: elementary music, elementary band, Jr. High chorus, HS choir, HS band and drama. I have been a part of our school since 1996.
While in college I felt the Lord leading me to teach music in the Christian school instead of the secular school. The Lord has used me for 26 years and in 6 different schools (We moved around a lot). The verse I have used over and over to encourage myself is:
I Timothy 1:12, "I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service."
