Freshmen and sophomores will be taught separately and have separate grammar and vocabulary studies. Their literature studies, however, will be the same. This class is designed to take students deeper into their study of literature and grammar. Literature studies will be primarily conceptual (i.e. learning about genres of literature rather than specific authors) Students will also go farther in their studies of writing, learning to incorporate research into their compositions and write with different purposes. Each student will be required to read 350 pages of a book (s) outside of class each quarter. Each book must be approved by the teacher.
