In this course designed to prepare students for their college English classes, juniors and seniors will study British literature from ancient times through modern authors. Though students will review grammar and be responsible for weekly vocabulary quizzes, the biggest component of the class is the literature.Alongwith daily reading assignments from exemplary authors from each time period studied, students will also read the Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth and George Eliot's Silas Marner. Writing is also emphasized and will relate to the literature being studied. Second semester students will also be responsible for a persuasive research paper.
